About the Artist

All of the artwork on this website was created by my mother and has been published posthumously as a tribute to her legacy.

Joan Carbone was a watercolor impressionist artist who lived in the shoreline area of Connecticut her entire life. In earlier years, she painted with watercolor and acrylics on easel. In later years, she took to the computer to explore a little-known digital medium called Pixel Art.

Similar to painting, creating art with pixels requires a steady hand and a great deal of patience. My mother spent many tranquil hours pixel-painting at the computer. She enjoyed this type of art immensely and found it meditative.

This memorial website is published at the request of my father, who has been passionate about getting my mother’s artwork onto a platform where friends and family could see it. The work is grouped into three galleries of Joan’s favorite subjects: Botanicals, Landscapes, and Geometrics. There is a fourth gallery of her miscellaneous work called Assorted. The largest body of work lies in the Botanicals gallery, as nature was her favorite subject to draw from. That gallery is her best-loved.

Joan was a devoted wife to my father, James Carbone, a loving mother to her two children, Kirsten and Robin, and a wonderful grandmother to her four grandchildren, Grace, Claire, Dylan, and Gibson. Dearly loved by those close to her, Joan would have loved knowing her work found its way past the confines of her personal computer and into the public realm.

Thank you for honoring my mother’s memory by taking a little time to view her artwork.

Warm Regards,
Kirsten
